The Words of Patriotism was originally made in the hope that it will assist in developing understanding of our Constitution, and the liberties it secures for the individual; that by studying the Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence, listeners will appreciate more fully the awesome difficulties which face the Supreme Court in discharging its responsibilities of giving meaning to the documents in the light of modern problems. The interpretations in the recording are exclusively those of the Supreme Court and your living Bill of Rights, as they exist in our law today. Being the law of the land, the Constitution is basically a document of simple words, using only occasionally lawyer's technical terms as rare exceptions. Nevertheless, the true meaning of many of its passages is not easily grasped in even a careful reading of the text. Thus, the purpose of this special presentation was to achieve maximum clarity and understanding by using a lively combination of voices, sometimes in choral speaking arrangement, complete with sound effects to illustrate the issues.

The archival live recordings in this collection have been digitally re-mastered from the original recording technology from the 1950's. Although much of the noise content of the original recordings has been removed, the producers have attempted to preserve the authentic, historical sound qualities which are in the style of live radio broadcasts before the era of television and digital technology.
